Life Makeover Program
Beauty Night offers Life Makeovers to marginalized women and youth, providing them with a safe space where they can relax, spend time with friends, and enjoy services and treatments like haircuts and massage. In Vancouver, most of our events take place at the Life Skills Centre (412 E Cordova) on Monday evenings, or at host organizations on Tuesday evenings.
Volunteers arrive at 5:30pm to set up the room. Tables and chairs are set up in various stations. Hair, make up, nails, mini facials, and relaxation massage stations are organized. Each station has a sign up sheet for each service. At 6:00pm, the participants come in and sign up for services. First come, first serve.
We also offer our creation station - a fusion of literacy, personal development and arts & crafts. Some of the projects created at this station include vision boards, designer flip flops, photo frames creation, and much more. This popular station gives the participants opportunities to share their voice through art, literacy and crafts.
Child minding and fitness classes are also available.
The amount of clients at a Life Makeover event vary. There have been events where we have had over 200 women. Other events where we have had three. For those of you who have never been to a Beauty Night, perhaps pictures speak louder than words. Here are some snap shots of moments at the make over events Monday nights in Vancouver.

Beauty Night is a great way to teach tools for women to make positive lifestyle changes. We have several clients who volunteer as they develop the life skills to merge into the working world. For these clients, we have scholarships available through Future Hair School.
For many clients, the makeover program is a self esteem boost. Many Beauty Night clients have dealt with violence. The makeover program is a way of reintroducing touch in a non-threatening way. In a safe and warm environment. Since December 15, 2000, Beauty Night has given over 10, 000 makeovers in Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria, and Prince George.
