Beauty Night on the Cover of Vancouver Foundation Magazine
November 2010
This morning, more than 80,000 copies of Vancouver Foundation’s Magazine were distributed through the Vancouver Sun. On pages 16 and 17 is an article about Beauty Night Society. We are thrilled with the article and wanted to share the link with you in case you haven’t seen it yet.
Vancouver Foundation also created a video that is airing at Vancouver Fashion Week between the shows. We have a booth there this week if you would like to come by and say hello! Thank you for all of your support! Here is a sneak video view.
Vancouver Foundation Video and Article on Beauty Night
As one of their feature stories about organizations they have recently awarded grants to, the Vancouver Foundation has produced a video about Beauty Night Society. Caroline MacGillivray, Executive Director of Beauty Night Society, narrates the video.
Thanks to the Vancouver Foundation for producing such a compelling video story, and to Aaron Chung for the photographic work. The Vancouver Foundation will also be running an article about Beauty Night Society in their November magazine, which is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, November 3 through the Vancouver Sun.

Simply enter the code PEACE at the ticketmaster checkout.
You can find out more about the event on their Facebook page. Beauty Night thanks the organizers for their support!
Anniversary Edition Vegan Lipstick
To celebrate our 10 year anniversary celebration, Ilus Elu has created a vegan lipstick for Beauty Night Society. $9 from each lipstick sale goes to Beauty Night. The more money raised, the more women and youth we can reach. For a sneak preview or to order your own lipstick, visit Iluselu.ca. And please spread the word and encourage your friends and colleagues to purchase an Ilus Elu Beauty Night lipstick! Together we can make a difference.
IABCBC Social Media Group
The Social Media Interest Group (SIG) of the BC Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators will be undertaking a social media planning project with Beauty Night Society, for our tenth anniversary celebration. We at Beauty Night are extremely excited about this! The project will be a wonderful learning experience for both organizations, as IABCBC plans to create a template to help other local charities with this type of planning work, and Beauty Night Society will be able to expand its communications and social media strategy. Many thanks to IABCBC for choosing Beauty Night!
Papalooza: Oct 24-26
Beauty night society is partnering with DAMS (Drug and Alchohol Meeting Support for Women), street nurses, PHS Life Skills Centre and LACE Campaign for Pap awareness week. According to LACE Campaign, women should get their Pap tests once a year to screen for cervical cancer. Seven out of ten cases of cervical cancer can be treated if caught early enough. Street nurses will be offering Beauty Night participants Pap screenings. Beauty Night volunteers and participants will talk about Pap awareness and cervical health. Through these discussions, and a journal workshop at the creation station, our participants will be able to voice their views on Pap awareness week and create their own ‘vagina monologues’.
Vancouver Foundation Grant
Beauty Night Society is thrilled to announce we are one of the recipients of the Vancouver Foundation‘s 3-year grants for projects in the areas of arts and culture, education, and children, youth and families. The Foundation and its donors granted a total of almost $3 million to support 134 unique projects in these areas that address a variety of community issues across the province.
Over the next three years, Vancouver Foundation will be contributing $45,000 to Beauty Night’s Life Makeover program. The investment in Beauty Night Society’s mission to provide marginalized women and youth tools to make positive lifestyle choices strengthens the community within a community that Beauty Night has created. This investment will make it easier for us to reach more women and to get more of their input.
Many thanks to the Vancouver Foundation for its support!
Xmas Stocking Drive 2010
The Xmas Stocking Drive has begun! In honour of our 10 year anniversary, Beauty Night Society (with its crew of volunteers) is making 1000 stockings to give out this Christmas. Nancy Perrault has designed this year’s stocking; and many thanks to Dressew for donating the fabric for the stockings.
Thanks to our volunteers, we are ahead of schedule: 1000 stockings have been cut and distributed to schools including York House, Eric Hamber, and Prince of Wales for sewing. Community members including Cindy Tran, Liane Gotteau, Sheila Adams, and Gary Smith are sewing stockings. We are looking for sponsors who might want to donate new toothbrushes, tooth paste, dental floss, skin care samples, gloves, socks, shampoos, conditioners, andnail care products. (Please note: in compliance with Health Canada guidelines, we can only accept new, unopened products.)
If you would like to contribute, please contact us.
