Valentine’s Day is a time for celebration. Many people chose to celebrate their romantic relationships. At Beauty Night Society, we believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day 365 days each year. We do this by creating opportunities for community members, volunteers, sponsors and corporate partners to come together to celebrate community. Four nights each week we bring our celebrations to shelters, transition homes, hospitals, drop in centres, and housing in Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, and New Westminister.

We held our big Valentine’s Day celebration on February 16th. We chose not to hold it on February 14th as the Women’s Memorial March to honour missing and murdered women takes place. Some of the high lights from our celebration included:

A Scent Bar with our friends from Smell This! Aromatherapy. Our participants got to experience the healing of aromatherapy as they created their own pure fumes out of essential oils. Arline and Nicole from Smell This! bring the Scent Bar to our participants monthly.

Multi Vitamins from Flora. The lovely Kat from Flora brought her smiling face and bottles of vitamins for our participants to take home.

Sandwiches from A Better Life Foundation. We are excited to have them serving our participants on Monday and Tuesday evenings. We thought our big Valentine’s Day celebration was the perfect time to launch.

Evelyn Iona Cosmetics topped up our makeup kits so we can offer vegan and organic makeup treatments for our participants throughout the year. Evelyn Iona was created by our very own, Brandi Leifso. Brandi has been a Beauty Night volunteer since 2012.

Lyrical Note’s Lorrie Holmes taught our participants how to make cotton candy. Lyrical Note visits us monthly to provide music, karoke and song.

Providing programming to build self esteem and change lives 4 evenings each week would not be possible without the support of our community, sponsors and volunteers. Thank you for making it possible for us to serve 300+ participants each week. From Left to Right: Gaya, Joan, Daylee, Jeremiah, Bibi, Caroline, Lisa, Amber, Lorrie, and Emily.
