Last week 40+ organizations got together for Union Gospel Mission’s Summer Connect. We were thrilled to participate in their 3rd annual event. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with like minded service providers, connect directly with beauty night participants we had not seen for a while, and celebrate the start of summer.

Our friends from BC Housing who sat at the table next to us joked that our table was one of the most popular at Summer Connect. As we looked around the room, I wasn’t sure I agreed with that. Every table seemed to be busy. We just had a line up for massages, medical qi gong treatments and hand massage.

It was wonderful to be back at UGM. In 2002, they were one of our first supporters. Once a month we would offer our beauty night programming at their women’s drop in centre. When they closed in 2008 for renovations, we stopped visiting. We are excited to reconnect. In the fall we will be starting monthly beauty night programming at their 24 hour women’s program that opens in July 2014.
